Building Department

The Building Department is responsible for all aspects of construction within the Village, both commercial and residential. This includes fences, pools, generators, plumbing, gas hookups, patios, decks and driveways. The Inspector ensures that the construction is performed within the guidelines of the Village of Brightwaters code and the New York State Building and Fire code. 

All permits require appropriate documentation as indicated on the permit applications. Certificates of Occupancy or Compliance are issued when construction has been completed and inspected. 

Construction without permit is also eligible for inspection and issuance of a Certificate provided the construction has been done in accordance with the codes.

Applications can be dropped off and completed paperwork picked up during regular office hours of Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Appointments are scheduled for Tuesdays and Fridays.
