BOARD OF TRUSTEES MEETING: 1ST MONDAY OF EACH MONTH AT VILLAGE HALL, @ 8:00 PM. (IF THAT DAY FALLS ON A HOLIDAY, BOARD MEETING NEXT DAY, TUESDAY)

VILLAGE OFFICE HOURS: MONDAY - FRIDAY 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM @ 40 SENECA DRIVE

VILLAGE COURT: COURT CLERK AVAILABLE MON-FRI 9AM – 4PM, COURT SESSIONS - 2ND WEDNESDAY OR THURSDAY OF EACH MONTH @ 6:30 PM IN THE COURT HOUSE. The official Court calendar is located in Village Justice Court on this website

PARKING REGULATIONS: NO OVERNIGHT PARKING BETWEEN 2:00 AM AND 6:00 AM AND NO VEHICLE SHALL BE PARKED OR STANDING ON ANY PUBLIC STREET IN THE VILLAGE UNLESS IT IS FACING IN THE SAME DIRECTION AS AUTHORIZED TRAFFIC MOVEMENT ON THAT STREET. PARKING IN LAKE AREA ON RESIDENTS’ SIDES. OTHER RESTRICTED AREAS PROHIBITED AS PER SIGNAGE: PARKING IN CANAL AREA WITH HARBOR PARKING PERMIT ONLY.

VEHICLE & TRAFFIC: NO THROUGH TRUCKS. ONE HOUR PARKING ON PUBLIC HIGHWAYS EXCEPT IN EMERGENCY. SPEED LIMITS 30 MPH ON VILLAGE ROADS, 40 MPH ON MONTAUK HWY. 15 MPH ON BRIDGES. COMMERCIALLY REGISTERED VEHICLES WITH A MAX. GROSS WT. OF LESS THAN 9,000 LBS. BEARING COMMERCIAL I.D. OR ADVERTISING ARE PROHIBITED FROM BEING LEFT ON DRIVEWAYS, YARDS OR HIGHWAYS FOR OTHER THAN DELIVERY OR SERVICE CALLS. THESE VEHICLES MUST BE GARAGED.

GARBAGE/TRASH/WRAP: Island Environmental 631-569-4209

ANIMALS: ANIMALS MUST BE UNDER CONTROL AT ALL TIMES. ALL DOGS MUST BE LICENSED. NO PERSON SHALL PERMIT A DOG TO COMMIT ANY NUISANCE UPON ANY AREA BETWEEN THE PAVED SURFACE AND THE ABUTTING PROPERTY OWNER’S LINE OF ANY STREET, SIDEWALK, PARK AND PARK AREAS. OWNER IN CHARGE OF DOG SHALL REMOVE ANY NUISANCES (DOG DODO). LONG AND CONTINUED NOISES BY ANY ANIMAL PROHIBITED. KENNELS (3 OR MORE DOGS) PROHIBITED. NO HARBORING OF LIVESTOCK, POULTRY OR HORSES BUT KEEPING OF ORDINARY PETS PERMITTED.

PEACE AND GOOD ORDER: CONSUMPTION OF ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES ON PUBLIC PROPERTY PROHIBITED. NO LITTERING, TRESPASSING OR UNNECESSARY NOISES FROM LOUDSPEAKERS.

BUILDING DEPARTMENT: PERMITS REQUIRED FOR ALL CONSTRUCTION AND ALTERATIONS.

GARAGE SALES: ONE SALE, TWO CONSECUTIVE DAYS PER YEAR UPON PAYMENT OF $10.00 FEE FOR PERMIT. SIGNS PERMITTED AT VILLAGE OFFICE, VILLAGE BULLETIN BOARD AND ONE AT RESIDENCE.

DRIVEWAYS/BELGIUM BLOCK CURBING: PERMIT REQUIRED FOR NEW DRIVEWAY AND EXPANDING EXISTING DRIVEWAYS. DRIVEWAY WIDTH CANNOT BE GREATER THAN TWENTY-TWO (22) FEET. PERMIT REQUIRED FOR INSTALLATION OF ANY CURBING/BELGIUM BLOCKS.

SIGNS: PERMIT REQUIRED TO PUT UP SIGNS, EXCEPT “FOR SALE” SIGNS WHICH MUST BE ATTACHED TO A STANDARD TRUNK IN THE GROUND AND NOT MORE THAN 5’ ABOVE GROUND AND SETBACK AT LEAST 5’ FROM PROPERTY LINE. NO ADVERTISING SIGNS PERMITTED GREATER THAN 6 SQ. FT. NO BANNERS OR ILLUMINATED SIGNS PERMITTED.

FENCES AND HEDGES: FENCES REQUIRE PERMITS. NO FENCE WHICH IS MORE THAN 6’ HIGH PERMITTED AND FINISHED SIDE TO FACE OUTWARD FROM PROPERTY ON WHICH IT IS CONSTRUCTED. NO FENCE SHALL BE OF A SOLID TYPE NOT PERMITTING VISIBILITY THROUGH IT. EVERY FENCE FACING A PUBLIC STREET SHALL BE SCREENED FROM VIEW FROM TOP TO BOTTOM BY NATURAL PLANTINGS. A CORNER PROPERTY IS CONSIDERED TO HAVE TWO FRONT YARDS. NO FENCE OR HEDGE IS PERMITTED ACROSS THE FRONT YARD OF ANY PROPERTY. HEDGES AT CORNERS MUST BE TRIMMED SO AS NOT TO OBSCURE MOTORISTS’ VISION.

SOLICITORS AND CANVASSERS: PERMIT REQUIRED. IF NO PERMIT IS SHOWN, CALL CODE ENFORCEMENT 665-1314, VILLAGE OFFICE 665-1280 OR POLICE 911.

PARKS: TENNIS AVAILABLE TO RESIDENTS ONLY. PARKS CLOSE AT DUSK. RESIDENTS 14 YRS. OF AGE AND YOUNGER MAY FISH AT LAKES WITH FISHING PERMIT ISSUED AT VILLAGE OFFICE. FISHING AT GILBERT PARK FOR RESIDENT ADULTS AND CHILDREN WITH ADULT SUPERVISION. RESIDENT PARKING CAR STICKERS AVAILABLE AT VILLAGE OFFICE.

STREETS AND SIDEWALKS: OBSTRUCTION OF ROADS FORBIDDEN. DEPOSIT OF WATER, SNOW, LEAVES IN ANY MANNER PROHIBITED. CURBS AND SIDEWALKS MUST BE FREE OF SNOW AND ICE WITHIN 24 HRS. TREES AND SHRUBS MUST ALSO BE TRIMMED AS NOT TO INTERFERE WITH PASSERSBY ON THE SIDEWALK OR ROADWAY.

CAMPERS AND BOATS: NEED PERMITS TO BE STORED ON PROPERTY. NO BOAT HAVING AN OVERALL LENGTH IN EXCESS OF TWENTY-FIVE (25) FT. SHALL BE STORED OUTSIDE AT ANY PLACE IN THE VILLAGE ON PRIVATE PROPERTY. Revised 10/07
